Orano Andrews and Patlian Johnson won the Tour De Tortola 2010 which was held the weekend of July 10 and July 11.
Andrews, who has claimed victory in the event for the third consecutive year, won the Time Trial on Saturday afternoon in a time of 10 minutes and 16 seconds and went on to complete the Tour in 2:29:32, taking first place in both events to secure the top spot with an overall 43 points.
In the ladies division, Johnson who placed first in the Time Trial in 17:02 and second in the tour in 2:32:54, garnered 40 points overall to take the top spot in the ladies division.
“It was great, it was wonderful. I enjoyed this race today because it had a lot of obstacles and challenges and it was a lot of fun,” said Andrews at the end of the Tour on Sunday.
He took the opportunity to thank President of the BSAFE programme Chris Ghiorse for sponsoring all his equipment for the race.

Philippe Leroy finished third in the prologue in 15 minutes and finished the Tour in 2:32:55, earning him second place overall.
“It was great, I never expected to do so well. I thought I was going to take an hour more so, I am very happy. Mike was very very good for me, he was right there in front of me and most of the time when you see someone in front it push u faster if I didn’t see him I would have gone a lot slower. So I have to say thanks to Matt,”
Meanwhile, Matt Crossman said his goal was to beat Leroy to the top which he did but he knew that Leroy would have overtaken him on the down hills and once Leroy was out of his sight, Crossman said he lost his motivation.
However, Crossman said he is still happy to finish third. He placed second in the Time Trial in 11:03 minutes and third in the tour in 2:34:36.
This was Elton Callwood’s first Tour De Tortola as he plans to continue cycling and competing in the event again next year.
“It was an experience. It was a little more than I expected,” said the Publisher of the VI StandPoint Newspaper.
“I knew it wasn’t going to be easy but I still finished under three hours which I hoped for. I would try to continue riding the bike so I can stay fit and get involved in more fun novice races then go for it next year again,” he said confidently.
