With the BVI's plan to host the 2006 Caribbean Cycling Championships, this year's Jason Bally Memorial race has been changed to a circuit which will take in most of the Greater Road Town area. The 4.2 mile(6.8km) loop will offer a new challenge to the competitors from false flats, to cornering, to super fast flats, and of course a hill.
"I think that the new cousre is great!" BVI Cycling President David Thomas said. "Not only is the couse challenging, but it brings the race now to the people with it travelling through the Lower Estate community, and the Baughers Bay area. People can stay on their porches and see some of the best cyclists in the Caribbean!"
Last year, being the 5th anniversary, 90 cyclists from 12 Caribbean Countries participated. Grenada's Danny Donleaon emerged victorious after surprising the field and riding away early. Who will be this year's winner??? Be in the BVI on October 2nd to find out.

Essential info
RACE COURSE
This year’s race has been changed to a circuit. This 4.2mile loop will traverse most of the greater Road Town area. The race will start in front of First Caribbean Bank on Admin Drive and head right up Waterfront drive. At the roundabout, go left on Flemming Street, then the immediate right on Fishlock road. At the Court house, take the left on Pickering road, then the immediate right onto Lower Estate road. Go up and around Lower estate to Huntums Ghut road and make a right. Follow Huntums Ghut road down to Station Avenue (Police Station) and make a left. Take Station Avenue to the traffic light, and make a left onto the dual Carriage way. Take the carriage way all the way up to the Port Purcell roundabout, and climb the short hill, Fort Hill lower (53x25 or 39x 23), and exit at the entrance to Baughers Bay. Turn around at Brewley’s and head back down Blackbourne Highway (west), to the dual carriage way, all the way back down to the Bobby’s roundabout. At the roundabout, take the left onto Decastro Street, and follow the road past the banks, around the Mill Mall, and back on to Admin drive, where the race started.
There will be two (2) races. The Elite Race, for the prize monies, will be 18 laps Men, 12 laps Women. The Expert race, which will include Mountain bikes, Juniors, and Fun Novice will be 7 laps. (Please note that everyone is allowed to do the full course if they so desire, but only the Elite race will offer the prize monies.) Also, because this race is being held in the Road Town area, and it is not possible for us to completely close off our capital entirely, anyone falling more than 5 minutes behind the main peleton will be pulled at the start/finish!
